Kelly Loves Kids

The Kelly’s mission is to inspire and educate, including the wee ones. Director Jennifer Eifert has even set up a new program called “Art Start” for kindergarten and pre-school artists. It’s the perfect time to introduce them to art, using simple, age-relatable concepts. Come by 10-11 a.m. on the third Wednesday of every month. That means NEXT WEEK, Aug. 16! It’s free, but you ARE required to have an adult stay with the child. This is not a babysitting service!

For the older kids, The Kelly has a free and quick art lesson, held on the fourth Thursday of each month, 4-5 pm. The next one is August 24. Libby Christensen will teach them how to sew fabric yoyos, which can be adhered to art projects or sewn as embellishment to clothing, bags (or even tennis shoes!) Yoyos make great flowers, but sewing is NOT just for girls! Make a monster truck if you want.

Don’t forget that we have a Kelly Kids table at the Wetumpka Community Markets with free projects. The outdoor markets will be starting up again in September, so watch for the details. Volunteer to help if you love kids–it’s fun!
