Kelly’s Art Associates continue to win awards around the area. On Sunday, April 16, several took prizes at the Society of Arts and Crafts Members’ Show in Montgomery. Art teacher and well-known metalsmith/jewelry maker Joanne Staley won two awards. One was 2nd place in the Opaque Painting category with her stunning abstract, ” Highland Holiday.” She also received Honorable Mention for unique necklace called “Silver Box with Amber” (small photo on left and with article title).
Edward Sikora, a photographer and fairly new Kelly member, won for two photos. His “Man of War” on Orange Beach won 3rd place, while “Raging River” got an Honorable Mention.
Libby Christensen, like Joanne Staley, placed in Fine Crafts with her original quilt design, “Butterflies Fly Free.” The 3D butterflies are all made of batiks to wing their way through the flowers.
