4″x6″–Bitty Art but Big Success

Kelly’s Art Associates answered the challenge to paint tiny 4″x6″ canvases for a 4/6/23 sale. Over a dozen of them brought in more than 100 miniature art pieces. Most of the artists sold at least one (and some as many as eight) Clearly, the customers admired the variety of content and mediums: oil, acrylic, watercolor, even wood! That first day brought in over $1000 of sales, of the small pieces and some larger pieces from the gallery as well.

That success encouraged Executive Director Jennifer Eifert to make the decision to continue the sale for another week, which garnered about $1500 altogerther. The display takes little space, yet offers so much for so little. Wetumpka’s professional photographer Barry Chritzberg played a part as well. He offered nice-quality 4″x6″ frames for just $8, a little spice for the entree!

The original idea stemmed from Pike Road’s art group that hosts a 5″x7″ day on May 7. The Art Associates liked the idea but didn’t want to steal it, just….emulate it, so to speak. Certainly, it has proven to be popular, making both artists and customers very happy. And we’re now planning an 8″x10″ day in August!
