Don’t be Afraid…

to take a look (or another look?) at the Collections Exhibit! Kelly collectors apparently have very eclectic tastes, and some of the works are exquisite. Others may take a broader mindset. But that’s what art is about, a broad way of viewing the world from all different perspectives.

If YOUR taste runs toward the classic, The Kelly is delighted to have some wonderful examples from the Dixie Art Colony on loan: not only from Kelly Fitzpatrick himself, but also from Eloise Hawkins, “Shiny” Moon and Warree LeBrun. How lovely to have the opportunity to enjoy seeing these private collectibles in a public display.

There are other interesting pieces, from abstracts to cartoons, even a Peter Max piece that belongs to our Executive Director Jennifer Eifert and her husband Sean. A few are by well-known Montgomery artists Clark Walker and Barbara Gallagher, even by Kelly’s own member Kathy Atchison.

As collector Roosevelt Lewis told us at his Tuesday With Kelly talk, “I buy what I like, what appeals to me.” That’s really what collecting is all about. We have different tastes, and fortunately, there is art that suits everyone. This exhibit runs through May 19; come by to drink it in before it goes back to all the homes.
