WET-umpka, but Dodged the Rain

The Alabama Plein Air Artists visited The Kelly again this week with the goal of painting more lovely pictures of our beautiful town. Some arrived Thursday, others drove in Friday, but all were treated to a wonderful breakfast cooked and donated by Bob Christensen (sausage casserole, tater tot casserole, cheese grits, and fruit salad) designed to put them in a mellow mood to go paint outside.

After breakfast, they scattered and painted on a lovely day, and fortunately, most were able to dodge the afternoon shower. The only thing WET was the WET paint sale afterward. As usual, there were some sales, making commissions for The Kelly and very happy artists. As one said, “It’s like BINGO–sometimes you win! …and then go buy more supplies.” Everybody, including Kelly members, won by enjoying the reception, thanks to Connie Cosby’s delicious hors d’oeuvres—after all, SOME of us had worked hard painting all day. (And I’ll never tell whom I saw take a third scrumptious brownie!)
