Reaching and Teaching…

art to youngsters! The Kelly’s mission is “is to engage, inspire and educate artists and the public at large,” including children. This year we have made a concerted effort to reach out to the school and even pre-school-aged kids.

Earlier in April, Wetumpka Elementary Gifted and Talented Students came for a field trip, learning about Kelly Fitzpatrick, art as storytelling, and different mediums.  Then they did the scavenger hunt and painted with watercolors. What fun!

The Kelly also offers special FREE classes for kids. The little pre-schoolers are welcome to attend ArtStart (with a parent/adult chaperone) on Thursday, April 17. It’s a special monthly arts-and-crafts lesson geared to the youngest among us.

Older school-age kids will enjoy Kids Town on April 25, 4-5 (after school!), another monthly meeting, which is featuring Salvador Dali this month. When’s the last time they saw a melted clock?
