The Kelly has received some special grants earmarked for the younger set. One is the “Paint the Town” that subsidizes young artists for work painting eyesores in the community. It’s a great way to get original art seen by the community and make a little money. Anyone interested can contact Carol Hickman or Jennifer Eifert for more information. (Call Jennifer (334) 328-6446 ).
Starting in April, The Kelly will participate in “Linger Longer” in Downtown Wetumpka, providing an outdoor table with make-and-take artwork for and by youngsters.
High school seniors interested in an education in any aspect of art are encouraged to compete for the $1000 scholarship from the Sylvia McConnell Scholarship endowment. Art teachers and high school guidance counselors in the area have been given details. The deadline is the end of March.
