Since the creation of fire, humans have spun stories of the fantastical, the mythical, and the unknown. Fiction has long allowed us to express complex emotions and ideas through entertaining stories. In times past, the seasons changed because Persephone was kidnapped by Hades; the seas claimed sailor lives because of mermaid songs; and the Anglo-Saxons were defeated because the destined King Arthur drew Excalibur. Even now, heroes still fight so as to inspire us to stand up and fight for a better real world.
