I have always loved dabbling in art, but other than an occasional workshop, I am relatively new to painting. I became interested in the visual arts when I served as the founding principal of the Booker T. Washington Magnet School for the Visual and Performing Arts in Montgomery. Watching talented young artists bloom and develop their interests fascinated me, and I yearned to have the time to paint. Now that I am retired, I enjoy painting with like-minded friends and exploring my many artistic interests. For me, painting is pure enjoyment, and I can become lost in my own thoughts as I explore new ways to express myself.
