Description
This watercolor painting presents a classic dirty martini glass filled with three green olives speared on a cocktail pick, while two more olives, rest casually at the base. The glass itself is rendered with careful attention to the way light plays on its transparent surface, showing gentle reflections and smooth shading that emphasize its glossy texture. The background contrasts this precision with loose, abstract washes of muted greens, blues, and yellows, suggesting an atmospheric mood without distracting from the main subject. Creating this piece began with detailed sketches of the glass and olives, after which I applied washes and two distinct sections. A key element in the shadowing was the use of Daniel Smith, Moonglow, which helped achieve a soft yet defined contrast that compliments the painting’s overall calm and reflective tone.
