Kelly Artists Rock ECAG

Just what IS an ECAG? If you’re not an artist, you might not recognize the acronym, but the Elmore County Art Guild has actually been active in the Wetumpka area for over 30 years. This year, its annual Winter Show was held in Millbrook at the Grand Opening of the Art Mill, a new art center.

Our Art Associate, Donna Pate, swept the mayoral awards. Mayor Al Kelly chose her “Girl Watchers” as his favorite while his wife Brenda selected her “A Southern Gift” for the First Lady Award. The former one is below:

Photographer and quilt designer Libby Christensen won TWO 2nd places. For photography, she entered an image of the Wetumpka bridge (yet another of her continuing series), seen above as the small featured photo–“Silver Ripples on a Winter Day.” Her quilted, appliqueed, thread-painted wall hanging took 2nd in 3-Dimensional Art:

Art Associate Marty Woodall received an Honorable Mention for “Dew Drop Reflections: Roses.” Tragically, just before the award ceremony and reception, she lost her husband Don, so we congratulate her while also sending heartfelt sympathy. May she continue to be strong and walk in her faith.

This ECAG exhibit will be open throughout the month of March. Danae Morgan, Director of the Cultural Arts in Millbrook, is eager to work with The Kelly and other local art groups. The new Art Mill is just north of the Millbrook Civic Center, near the playground and library at 3560 Grandview Road. Look for the bright blue door!
