Melancholic and melodious, the delta blues is that soulful type of music that calls to your heart while you bob your head along to its tune. Join Clint Herring, renowned contemporary watercolor artist from Auburn, Alabama, in this exhibition celebrating his Delta Blues watercolor series for his upcoming art book “Clint Herring Watercolors: The Delta Blues”.
Full of portraiture and conceptual artworks (seventy-three!), both this exhibition and his upcoming art book honor the legends and everyday delta blues players of the past and contemporary - from T-Model Ford, Robert Johnson, Howlin’ Wolf, and Muddy Waters to Gip Gipson and Ruthie Foster.
Clint Herring is a watercolorist whose work has been featured in many well-known galleries across the United States. Herring’s work provides a detailed look into the Black Belt region of the southeastern United States, an area named for its rich, dark soil that has fostered and grown generations of painters, crafters and other artists. His watercolors capture the simple beauty of historic buildings, cultural items and grass-roots people raised in the South. His realism in watercolor is remarkable, and yet he never loses the painterly effects.
