I am a lifelong resident of rural Alabama and have a profound attachment to the land and its rustic traditions. Art has always had a magnetic appeal to me and retirement has provided me the opportunity to develop my creative tendencies. Through the mentorship of the accomplished artist, Alisa Beck, I have developed a passion for painting. My preferred mediums are oils and cold wax on wood panels that I make.
Landscapes make up the majority of my work because I find so much inspiration and reference from my roots. My goal is for the viewer to establish a connection with my country scenes and come away with feelings of calmness and relaxation. In contrast, my abstract paintings are intended to radiate a sense of chaos and turbulence.
