Louise Everton was a prized artist, diligent art organizer, and dear friend of many of the Dixie Art Colony artists, including Fitzpatrick himself. She was known for painting with the greatest of ease and encouraging her fellow and new artists alike. She was an active member on many of the art organizations that she and her fellows created, such as the Alabama Art League, Watercolor Society of Alabama, and Southern States Art League.
This retrospective is meant to honor her legacy among the Dixie Art Colony artists and her history with our namesake John Kelly Fitzpatrick. We have on display her paintings as well as selections of letters that come from her personal scrapbook collections.
A special thank you to Angus Everton, her son, who loaned this extensive collection.
