The contest will be held at The Kelly Fitzpatrick Center for the Arts and will coincide with the Art Gone Wild exhibition running from September 25th through November 13th. The goal of the competition is to increase awareness and appreciation of Alabama’s wildlife as well as recognize outstanding artistic talent. The total awards this year will be approximately $26\,000\, including a $12\,000 Best of Show purchase award. He created art for his own amusement throughout his corporate career. His recent return to Alabama offers time\, at last\, for full-time painting at his home studio. \nWorking primarily in mixed media with a nontraditional approach to landscapes\, he expresses both bold and subtle aspects of his environment. Some of his works informed by techniques and materials used by rural primitive painters in history. Other recent works include pet portraiture\, digital photography and sculpture. When he isn’t making art\, Mick is an animal lover and an amateur gardener.
