DESCRIPTION:Taught by Tim Thomas\, this watercolor methodology class centers on painting a red bird—most often a cardinal—as a study in color layering\, perception\, and visual sequencing. This class challenges students to shift how they see color by learning to identify colors as layered relationships rather than single values\, and by painting the first color they perceive last. DESCRIPTION:Learn how to create brilliant skyscapes using oil paints in this workshop taught by Barbara Davis! In this workshop\, students will explore light and color in the sky with a focus on clouds. The basics of composition\, color\, value\, and brushwork will be discussed to help achieve an impressionistic light-filled skyscape in oils. DESCRIPTION:Downtown Wetumpka is bringing back First Fridays! The Kelly will be participating with the rest of Downtown by staying open an extra two hours through the months of May through August. From 5pm to 7pm\, we will have children’s activities set up in the front of the building for the community to enjoy. We also want to encourage our artists to set up around Downtown and paint during the event. We hope you’ll join us in making First Fridays more artistic!

Artists are invited to submit works that celebrate and reflect Maxwell Air Force Base—particularly Air University—its legacy\, influence\, and enduring mission. From the pioneering achievements of the Wright Brothers to today’s advanced Professional Military Education\, submissions should highlight themes of air superiority\, innovation\, and adaptive warfighter development.
