We will have breakfast snacks\, a coffee bar\, fantastic historical art\, and great conversation! \n  \nLouise Smith Everton was a prize-winning artist\, diligent art organizer\, and dear friend of many of the Dixie Art Colony artists\, including our namesake John Kelly Fitzpatrick. She was known for painting with the greatest of ease and for encouraging her fellow and newcomer artists alike. She was an active member of many art organizations\, such as the Alabama Art League\, the Watercolor Society of Alabama\, the Southern States Art League\, the Birmingham Museum of Art\, and of course\, the Dixie Art Colony.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening reception for the artworks from this year’s TROY-Tutwiler Gardening & Art Program!  We will have drinks\, snacks\, wonderful artworks\, great company\, and intriguing stories! \nTroy University created a partnership program with the Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women in Wetumpka\, Alabama in 2019. It’s an educational program for female incarerated participants to teach them about horticulture and nutrition through a 15-week series of Fundamentals of Gardening classes. As of 2021\, the program expanded to include the visual arts\, and arts classes are led by art and design lecturer Dr. Kelly Berwager\, who also organized this art exhibition. Troy University’s goal is to make the women productive members of society that never return to prison.

The Kelly Fitzpatrick Center for the Arts will hold the grand opening of our new location at: \n301 Hill Street\,\nWetumpka\, AL 36092\n Our doors will open at 10:00am\, and we will celebrate our grand opening with a ribbon cutting at 5:30pm\, immediately followed by a reception until 8:00pm. Everyone–volunteers\, staff\, the Board\, and our visual arts community–worked so hard to make this dream possible\, and we invite you to celebrate everyone’s successful efforts with us!  The reception will also be punctuated with its new art exhibition “Bridges and Rivers\,” a homage to its passionate riverside community.

DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin us for snacks\, drinks\, and celebration of this year’s high school Student Art Show.  Collaborating together with Elmore County educators\, The Kelly is showcasing the artistic talents of our local high school students\, and today marks the last day of their brilliant show.  Our jurors have already cast their votes behind-the-scenes\, and during the reception\, we will award ribbons for the jurors’ choice of first\, second\, and third place for each school district based on outstanding artistic merit–as well as an overall ribbon for Best of Show. \nFamily\, friends\, and the public are all invited to come appreciate the artistic achievements the students of Elmore County!
